Since the beginning, Maharashtra has been the most popular state for the registration of new Companies followed by West Bengal and Delhi. From the 1940s, southern states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka started gaining attention for the registration of companies. Post-independence, a major bump was seen in the number of registrations of companies during the early 1980s when major export incentives were announced along with various tax reforms. Since then, there is no turning back in the corporate sector. Initiatives such as Ease of Doing Business and Make in India by the Government have led to this exponential growth in the registration of companies. More than 6.4 lakh companies have been registered in the last five years.
